The Wedding Date sends Debra Messing to a family wedding in England with a man she has hired for the weekend, largely to unsettle her ex.
The arrangement is the joke and then quietly stops being one. He is better at the family than she is, the ex is watching, and the transaction turns into something neither of them planned to negotiate.
