Maitland-Lewis, Stephen: - Stephen Maitland-Lewis is an award-winning author, British attorney, and former international investment banker whose career has spanned London, Kuwait, Paris, Munich, and Wall Street. After relocating to California in 1991, he ventured into hospitality and media as the owner of a luxury hotel, a celebrated restaurant, and Director of Marketing for a Los Angeles daily newspaper. A lifelong jazz aficionado, he serves as a Board Trustee of the Louis Armstrong House Museum in New York and received the Museum's prestigious Louie Award in 2014. Maitland-Lewis is also a Freeman of the City of London and a member of PEN, The Authors Guild, the International Mystery Writers Festival, and the California Jazz Foundation. His acclaimed novels include Legacy of Atonement, Hero on Three Continents, Emeralds Never Fade, Ambition, Botticelli's Bastard, and Duped. His short fiction collection, Mr. Simpson and Other Short Stories, features the award-winning title story, later adapted for the stage. He divides his time between Rancho Mirage, California, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
