Ranch life on the Texas frontier has been good for the Zachary family, though they've had their share of loss. Will, the stalwart patriarch, died at the hands of the Kiowa Indians, leaving the oldest son, Ben, to take over as the protector of the family. But just as Ben agrees to the marriage of his adopted sister, Rachel, to a neighboring rancher, trouble comes to the Zachary family-Texas-size trouble.
