The Spanish Farm Trilogy 1914 to 1918 is a collection of three novels written by R. H. Mottram. The novels are set during World War I and are based on the author's experiences as a soldier in the British Army. The first novel, The Spanish Farm, tells the story of a group of soldiers who are sent to a farm in northern France to recover from injuries sustained in battle. The farm is run by a Spanish family and the soldiers must adapt to the unfamiliar surroundings and culture. The second novel, Sixty-Four, Ninety-Four!, focuses on the Battle of the Somme and the experiences of the soldiers fighting in the trenches. The final novel, The Crime at Vanderlynden's, is a mystery set in a small French village during the war. The trilogy is known for its realistic portrayal of the war and its effects on the soldiers and civilians involved.1927. The three novels of the Trilogy are: The Spanish Farm, prefaced by John Galsworthy, and winner of the Hawthornden Prize in 1924; Sixty-Four, Ninety-Four!; and The Crime at Vanderlyndens. Reviewing the three together, The Atlantic Monthly said: A trilogy, beautifully written, the finest treatment of a wartime motif yet achieved in English fiction. Between these three novels now appear for the first time in book form three connecting pieces: DArcheville, The Winner and The Stranger. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
