The first human born on Mars, 16-year-old Gardner Elliot (Asa Butterfield) was raised by NASA colonists after his astronaut mother died during childbirth. Having never been to Earth, he decides to travel there to meet in person the girl (Britt Robertson) he's developed an online friendship with, as well as to track down the father he's never known. But when Gardner realizes his internal organs aren't compatible with Earth's gravity, he must race against time to complete his "mission."
