After a fire at her restaurant, gourmet chef and restauranteur, Kate O'Leary, takes a job as head cook at the Mary and Martha's (M&M) Soup Kitchen while she waits on the insurance money. Her cooking skills are put to the test as she tries to create nutritious, healthy meals out of ingredients she would have tossed at her restaurant.

Assistant cook, Marika Johnson, dreams of being named the M&M head cook. She grew up eating at the soup kitchen. She loves the kitchen, its clients and its mission. She doesn't want some highfalutin gourmet chef making any changes. She can't believe a restauranteur wants to work in a soup kitchen and believes Kate has some ulterior motive...probably the handsome Executive Director, Nick Decker.

Pots and pans fly as the two women battle to be the "Top Chef" all the while trying to feed the hungry and poor of the community.
