A Young David Covington, imprisoned for murder, is forced to visit a prison psychologist. It is during one of these tumultuous sessions, that the Psychologist, a stern and well respected, Dr. Owen Garrity inadvertently uncovers a secret kept hidden for over twenty years by David, his older brother Tommy and their younger sister Anna. Incredibly the secret David and his siblings share is only a small part of the mystery that Owen Garrity unravels. Owen Garrity admires the honesty and reticent demeanor that he sees in the young inmate. And David Covington is surprised to find that he looks forward to his sessions with the distinguished doctor. But when the Doctor asks David about his childhood, the answers appear a little too rehearsed for the seasoned doctor. With a simple telephone call to a small town sheriffs department, twenty years of secrecy are unwittingly exposed. When the small town detective believes David is not who he claims to be; David is forced to tell the truth about what happened to him, and his brother and sister. A sad a painful journey transcends everyone's imagination as David tells Dr. Garrity the anguish of his childhood and the tales of his years living in the mountains. Tears, anger, laughter and despair carry David through every step of his forced foray into his purposely forgotten past. Owen Garrity accompanies David through the savage trepidation of his childhood only to discover that in spite of uncovering the confessions to more unsolved crimes, crimes that could keep David imprisoned for the rest of his life, Owen Garrity finds himself believing that David should never have been imprisoned at all.
