Frances Hodgson Burnett (24 November 1849- 29 October 1924) was a British-American novelist and playwright. She was known for her prolific career, which spanned over four decades and included more than 40 novels and plays. Burnett was born in Cheetham, Manchester, England, but moved to the United States in 1865 with her family, where she began writing to support them financially.
