The Second Epistle of Peter presents a solemn and exhortative text of the New Testament in the enduring language of the King James Version.
Traditionally attributed to the Apostle Peter, this letter addresses the early Christian community with urgency and moral seriousness. It warns against false teachers who distort apostolic doctrine, exploiting uncertainty and undermining fidelity to received teaching. The epistle affirms the authority of eyewitness testimony and Scripture, urging believers to remain steadfast amid confusion and controversy.
A central theme of the letter is divine patience. Confronting doubts about the delay of the Second Coming, it teaches that the apparent postponement of judgment reflects not indifference but mercy-"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise... but is longsuffering to us-ward." The text calls its readers to vigilance, growth in grace, and disciplined attention to the prophetic word while awaiting the fulfilment of divine promise.
Presented here as a standalone volume in the measured and resonant prose of the 1611 King James translation, this edition preserves a work that has shaped Christian reflection on judgment, perseverance, and the nature of sacred authority.
