The Return - Paperback

You are carrying two souls. Only one of them is going anywhere.

Every tradition that ever looked closely at the soul agreed on something the modern world has forgotten: that a human being is not one self but two - a mortal soul, bound to the body and built for its survival, and an immortal soul, on loan from somewhere else and always, quietly, trying to return. When the body ends, the first self ends with it. The second goes home.

The Return follows that second self past the threshold. It draws together the Kabbalah's detailed map of the soul's ascent, the Tibetan and Egyptian and Islamic accounts, Plato and the mystics, and the modern clinical evidence of near-death experience - and argues that these are not competing myths but independent witnesses to the same territory. Along the way it asks the questions most books on the afterlife avoid: What is hell, if not punishment? Why do some souls fail to leave? What does the soul carry across - and what, like a fortune in the wrong currency, is worth nothing on the far shore?

And then the questions that matter most while we are still here: how to let go, when to let go, and how to die well.

It claims no certainty. No one has returned with a verified report, and this book never pretends otherwise. What it offers is the convergence of everyone who looked hardest, read through a single coherent lens - and that is more than almost any account of death can honestly promise.

The third book of The Soul Framework series.

What death strips away was never you. What it cannot touch is.
