Imagine serving pastries to Hitler in a coffee-house in Vienna. A couple refusing to grieve. A woman who interprets her life through mass shootings that seem to occur weekly. Snow White meeting a failed writer of "Wheel of Fortune." These are some of the situations found among the 29 stories in this collection of flash and short fiction about characters often at a critical juncture in modern life.
Settings range from Vienna in the earliest 1900s to the U.S. of modern day, about such characters as a young woman struggling with whether exploit her severe mental illness, or others who worry about the safety of people they love. It is undoubtedly a rich, compelling collection, both haunting and original, exploring many issues in what some see as a "world gone mad."
