The New Organon is Francis Bacon's 1620 case for a new way of doing science, one built on careful observation and induction, not syllogism.
The title answers Aristotle, whose writings on logic were gathered as the Organon. Bacon wanted a method that starts from what can be observed and works upward from there.
The heat example
His best-known illustration is heat. List every case where heat is present, then similar cases where it is absent, then cases where it rises and falls. Whatever runs through all three lists points to the cause.
About this edition
Bacon wrote the work in Latin; this is an English text in paperback.
