Book Two in the legendary mystery series returns with a thrilling adventure of hidden doors, secret passageways, eerie disappearances, and high-stakes sleuthing. When a local estate is said to be haunted by ghostly footsteps and strange lights behind the walls, young detective Nancy Drew agrees to investigate. Soon she's facing frightening sabotage, family secrets, coded clues, and a mysterious staircase that leads deep into the unknown.

Guided by her sharp intuition and unstoppable courage, she follows a trail of mysterious intruders, missing valuables, and long-buried crimes, all while protecting her father from a dangerous scheme. With every twist and turn she proves why she's become one of literature's most iconic girl detectives-a brilliant, fearless sleuth driven by justice, friendship, and the thrill of the chase.

Perfect for readers who love classic mysteries, haunted house adventures, gothic suspense, detective fiction for young adults, and vintage whodunits, The Hidden Staircase continues the timeless tradition of fast-paced puzzles, clue-by-clue revelations, and unforgettable characters.

A cornerstone of Golden Age mystery fiction, this newly available public-domain edition brings a beloved classic to modern audiences-ideal for collectors, libraries, classrooms, homeschool reading lists, and fans of detective stories, puzzle-solving, and smart, capable heroines.

Keene, Carolyn: - Mildred Wirt Benson (1905-2002) writing as Carolyn Keene was an American writer and reporter whose contributions to early twentieth-century popular literature, most notably Nancy Drew Mysteries, helped redefine the image of the young female protagonist in American fiction. A graduate of the University of Iowa, where she became one of the first women in the nation to earn a master's degree in journalism, Benson authored dozens of juvenile novels and later enjoyed a long career as a newspaper journalist. Working anonymously for the Stratemeyer Syndicate, she completed the initial manuscripts that introduced a now-iconic girl detective, Nancy Drew, to readers worldwide. Today, her work is recognized for its role in expanding opportunities for young female characters in literature and inspiring new generations of writers and readers.
