The Categories is a philosophical treatise written by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle. It is a work that deals with the nature of existence and the classification of things into various categories. To sketch my meaning roughly, examples of substance are 'man' or 'the horse', of quantity, such terms as 'two cubits long' or 'three cubits long', of quality, such attributes as 'white', 'grammatical'.
