Chivvis, Gal: - Dr. Chivvis is an internship-trained emergency veterinarian, author, homeschool mom, and indie publisher who focuses on bridging veterinary medicine, education, and storytelling. She blends clinical experience with narrative to make veterinary topics more understandable outside the exam room. Her children's picture book What's Wrong with Tom? launched in August 2025, with her second children's book, What Did Libby Do?, projected for August 2026. Her children's stories combine education with imagination and compassion, weaving in social-emotional themes to help young readers understand health, empathy, and the veterinary experience in an age-appropriate way. She has also developed educational coloring books, activity books, and practical pet health guides designed to provide owners with clear, veterinarian-vetted information, support the human-animal bond, and highlight the value of open communication with the veterinary team. Dr. Chivvis is the author of The Dog Owner's Guide to Health Emergencies, recipient of both the Literary Titan Gold Book Award and the 2025 Readers' Favorite Gold Medal, and most recently published The Cat Owner's Guide to Health Emergencies. She is also the founder of CritterCareCollective, an educational platform dedicated to making accurate pet care information clear, practical, and accessible.
