Wonderland was never meant to last.
When Alice first fell into it, the world bent gladly around her curiosity-rules softened, consequences dissolved, and endings politely waited their turn. But wonder has a cost, and someone has always been paying it.
She was called a villain.
She was called cruel.
She was the Queen who stayed.
Now Alice has returned-not as a child passing through, but as someone who refuses to leave. As fires rise, gates close, and illusions die, Wonderland is forced to confront a truth it has long avoided: worlds do not survive on magic alone. They survive because someone remains behind to finish what others abandon.
As Alice grows into responsibility, the Queen faces the one thing she has never allowed herself-being seen. And the Cheshire Cat, once content to disappear when things became painful, discovers that survival without accountability is its own kind of erasure.
The Caretakers of Wonderland is a dark, literary reimagining of a familiar world-one that asks what happens after the adventure ends, after innocence walks away, and after wonder stops forgiving harm.
