Who would you kill to return things to the way they were before? Who would you kill for revenge?
Disgraced Princess Lilia Hannar of Alinhale knows the answer without so much as a second thought: everyone. Anyone that stands in her way, anyone that has wronged her, shall be brought down without mercy.
Following the bloody battle at the Fields of Everard, the surviving Hastians must come up with a new plan to take Alinhale back from King Xanter. Do they recuperate, allowing their enemies the chance to recuperate too, or do they march early, knowing that it could mean their imminent death? Rather than choosing between two impossible choices, Lilia takes a select group of volunteer warriors with her to sneak into the palace of Alinhale and finish what her brother started.
Her journey home forces her to face the truth of her abilities, the mysteries surrounding the man with the black flame, and the real villain of her story. She may have changed in the time since she left home, but one thing remains true: she has no idea what to believe anymore
