When Sara O'Brien discovered her childhood friend, Amy, had stage four cancer she felt compelled to travel across country to be with her and help with her care. After returning home, Sara learned her own cancer diagnosis. So began a yearlong battle and beautiful relationship between Sara and Amy as they studied the Bible together daily and found that God's love shines brightest during dark times. This devotional for women facing cancer focuses on the hope that can be found during the difficult days of cancer treatment, and reminds us that God's promises are true, He is present, He is faithful, He is loving, He cares, and His arms are everlasting. It is also a bright reminder that there is joy in this journey. Sara's wit shines through as she shares her personal experiences and God's loving lessons. The Bald Headed, Tattooed, Motorcycle Mama's Devotional Guide is an uplifting month long, daily devotional for women battling cancer and their loved ones, written with humor to lighten the heart.

Sara earned her BA from The King's College in 1992, her LPN from SUNY Delhi in 2004, and her treasured starfish pin from the radiology staff at Bassett Cancer Institute in 2013, signifying the end of her radiation treatments. She has worked as a long-term care nurse and served as an advocate for people with disabilities. She recently was privileged to be a care giver to her best friend as she courageously battled pancreatic cancer. Sara is often hopeful, at times guilty of a bad attitude, yet enjoys the humor in life. As a caregiver, a fellow warrior in the cancer battle, and a sinner given God's abounding grace, she has the experience of an everyday person placed in extraordinary circumstances, watching God's light shine in the dark places. She is enjoying her remission with her husband, David, dog, Angel, and two cats, Bonnie and Clyde. They currently reside in the beautiful city of the hills, Oneonta, NY.
