Jude Monroe awakes more than 300 years in the future with a gun pressed to his forehead and absolutely no idea how he got there. Only a moment ago, it was 2019, and he was on NASA's newest rocket. Now, however, while fighting for survival in the year 2393, he has found that he is more connected to the future than he ever was to the past.
Well before the tragic accident that resulted in this travel in time, Jude Monroe, a high school history teacher, had already lost everything. His parents died in a tragic car accident. His fiancée walked out the door. He spent his days going through the motions while questioning why his life ended up the way that it had. As chance would have it, amidst this existential crisis, he became the teacher selected for NASA's rebooted Educator in Space Program. Tragically, just after liftoff for this mission, the rocket exploded.
The explosion should have killed him, but rather it teleports him far into the future, and he awakes to more danger than he ever faced on the rocket. Now, traversing a seemingly new world, he finds the answers to all of his most pain-filled questions.
