The Attentionist: New Choices for a New World - Paperback

This book is about attention, and the vital role it plays in your life. Attention is not just what you notice-it is who you become.

Somewhere in the mid-21st century, a visionary named Milan has done everything civilization asks of its best minds. He has mapped a second planet for humanity's survival. He has the funding, the team, the technology. There is only one thing his mission cannot proceed without - the one thing no expert, no institution, no algorithm can provide: wisdom.

It is his young daughter, Kuriozi, who solves the problem without hesitation. She takes Milan to Matria who lives nearby, on land still full of butterflies at a time when butterflies are nearly gone. Matria doesn't give Milan a system or a method. She sends him to four teachers - of the body, the mind, the heart, and the spirit - each asking him to stop, look inward, and face the only question that has ever mattered:

What is your attention creating - and is that the life you meant to live?

Written in the spiritual quest tradition of The Alchemist, and rooted in the ancient Persian wisdom of yeki-bood, yeki-nabood - the visible and invisible worlds, energy and matter - The Attentionist offers a practical, powerful way of coming back to our true selves, and addressing the problems we all face, individually, and as a planet.
