During the pandemic, I learned of fostering opportunities with a local rescue organization in my community and that is how I connected with my pet Teddy! Teddy is a tuxedo cat with an incredible journey of strength, perseverance and hope. I wanted to write these stories to bring awareness to preventable injuries, animal care and the benefits of fostering opportunities with rescue organizations. Teddy is inclusive, unique and encourages acceptance and kindness to others. Teddy is a real-life inspiration that children seem to connect with on an emotional level. These books were written to include a range of topics, emotions and scenarios that children find relatable as told from the perspective of a lovable character.Van Nes, Cierra: - I am a recent nursing student graduate working in neonatal intensive care. I have a passion for all things art and creativity. I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. At the start of the pandemic, I decided to start selling my paintings and handmade greeting cards to raise money for tuition. It was through this venture that I connected with Christine and fell in love with Teddy's story. Each of these pages are painted by hand with acrylic paint, something not often done in book illustrations anymore, which echoes the uniqueness of Teddy. I am excited to continue to create and share more of his adventures and stories!
