Throughout his career writing pamphlets, novels, essays, poetry, and a multi-volume diary, Bloy earned two defining nicknames: "The Pilgrim of the Absolute" for his unorthodox Catholic devotion, and "The Ungrateful Beggar" for his lifelong dependence on friends' charity to support his family.
