This collection of essays follows upon its predecessor, originally entitled In Defense of the New Perspective on Paul: Essays and Reviews (Wipf and Stock, 2005). This second edition differs from the first in that five new chapters have been added and one review article has been deleted. The change of the main title to Studies in the New Perspective on Paul is due to the conviction that the "New Perspective on Paul" actually represents a return to the original context in which Paul proclaimed the gospel of Christ. Therefore, it is not something to be "defended," but propounded in the most positive terms possible.

Don Garlington hails from Arkansas. After receiving the B.A. from Harding University, Searcy, Arkansas, he took the degrees of M.Div. and Th.M. at Westminster Theological Seminary. From 1977-82 he was a lecturer in biblical studies at Trinity Ministerial Academy, Montville, New Jersey. Thereafter, he obtained the Ph.D. from the University of Durham, under the supervision of James D. G. Dunn. From 1987-2002 he was professor of New Testament at Toronto Baptist Seminary, and from 2004-06 he served as adjunct professor of New Testament at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto. He continues to make his home in Toronto and is currently engaged in a variety of writing projects. His publications include: The Obedience of Faith': A Pauline Phrase in Historical Context (Mohr Siebeck, 1991); Faith, Obedience, and Perseverance: Aspects of Paul's Letter to the Romans (Mohr Siebeck, 1994); Exegetical Essays (3rd ed.; Wipf & Stock, 2003); An Exposition Of Galatians: A Reading From the New Perspective (3rd ed.; Wipf & Stock, 2007); numerous articles in various periodicals and Festschriften.
