Teddy Roosevelt's Historic Guide to Living Life to the Fullest
In 1899 Theodore Roosevelt was Governor of New York and gave a stirring speech on his philosophy of living a most productive life. Based on his own experiences, Roosevelt defined the American ethos of overcoming hardship and hard work in a compelling speech only Teddy could produce. Part of Applewood's "Books of American Wisdom" series, this elegant hardback is a perfect gift for any occasion.
Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States and one of the most dynamic leaders in American history. Born on October 27, 1858, in New York City, he overcame childhood illness through sheer determination, developing a lifelong passion for physical activity and the outdoors.
Roosevelt rose through politics as a New York assemblyman, U.S. Civil Service Commissioner, and New York City Police Commissioner before gaining national fame leading the Rough Riders during the Spanish-American War. At just 42, he became the youngest president in U.S. history following William McKinley's assassination in 1901.
As president, he championed progressive reforms, busted corporate monopolies, and established the national parks system. Roosevelt died on January 6, 1919, leaving a bold, lasting legacy.
