This debut album from singer-songwriter Shawn Stern weaves stories that swell with the hope of love and the heartache of loss using an alt-folk / alt-country style. The bluegrass underpinnings of lap steel and banjo mix brilliantly to provide context and depth while fingerpicked guitar and vocals tell the tales. More alt and folk than country, Shawn uses the whine and flow of a country sound to tell a more vivid story. Hailing from Seattle and residing in Brooklyn, Shawn's journey give the songs life, Kimo Muraki's musical talents and accompaniment fill the tapestry and Brian Pake's masterful album production finalize the stories.
