The book you are reading celebrates the history of Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church while highlighting the ongoing faithfulness and commitment of the members of this great church in carrying out God's word. The founders of this church set a wonderful example for congregants today about faith, dedication and love of God, family and community. We are indebted to that small band of Christian servants for the foundation they laid for the church that exists today. Our triumphs of the present are based on their hard work and fortitude 135 years ago. Though born during slavery and facing violence and prejudice, the Gospel Water Branch founders did not let hardships stop them from carrying out God's work. They started a great ministry that grew stronger and stronger each year and remains strong today. Under the great leadership of our present pastor, Rev. Robert L. Ramsey, the church's future is brighter still. The church continues to move forward, exemplifying its motto, "The Church that cares", and embodying God's love. The founders knew the truth of these words from Galatians 6:9, "And let us not
grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up." We as a church continue to follow in the founders' footsteps, knowing that God has blessed us mightily and that his blessings continue to flow.
