Wolf and Ghost meet on Halloween night. What starts as a fun relationship turns into an unhealthy one when Wolf's behavior changes, seemingly out of nowhere. Wolf becomes mean and controlling, manipulating Ghost to stay by giving Ghost gifts, candy, and kind words. With each mean action Wolf directs towards Ghost, Ghost starts to fade. The cycle of mistreatment and kindness continues until Ghost decides this is not the life it planned for and must decide on next steps.

This story is told in child-safe language and situations, in a bold, colorful palette. This picture book serves as an introduction to the abuse cycle, whether it be from a domestic partner, friend, family member, or another relationship dynamic. Includes contact information for major domestic violence organizations in three large countries.

Spoiler alert: if you're looking for Ghost to stay in the unhealthy, dangerous relationship, this is not the book for you, and I encourage you to bypass it. This book focuses on self-love, resilience, and personal strength. The topic can be very polarizing, as you may notice in some of the feedback provided.
