How it works
A unit opens with a short piece of fiction or nonfiction, so the rule turns up inside a sentence the child has already read.
Then a rule box, colorful practice, riddles and word games, a Write It Right page, and a short review to see whether any of it stuck.
Good to know
On the grammar side: singular and plural nouns, adjectives and adverbs, singular pronouns, verb tenses, subject verb agreement, fragments, subordinating conjunctions.
On the other: sentence endings, commas, apostrophes, quotation marks and titles. A language handbook at the back gives the adult somewhere to check.
Parents call it supplementary and they are right. This is extra practice, not a year of instruction.
