Known as the touring multi-instrumentalist for of Montreal, Caribou and Yeasayer, Ahmed Gallab is finally branching out on his own with Mars. The album is dense with deep, polyrhythmic grooves that refer as much to early '70s underground soul as it does Ahmed's home country Sudan. It's a 21st-century party record that swoons with it's kinetic catchiness.
