In this sequel to Simon's Dream, Simon, Jess and Ron are beginning to establish roots in their new home city of Seattle, where Simon decides to take a risk and try a new career path. However, his sleep soon becomes riddled with a fresh round of dreams, this time featuring a young woman named Annie. Born and raised in a single tall skyscraper known only as "The Structure", Annie makes a mistake which causes her to be banished from her one and only home. Alone and forced into the harshness of the futuristic outside world, Annie meets an unlikely companion with a similar objective. Together, they must enlist the help of others in order to get back inside and save those for whom they care most from the evils occurring within the Structure.
During Simon's waking hours, he meets a young man named Kanzen Sasaki, who appears to have ties to this future world. Convinced that this future must be avoided at all costs, Simon and his friends embark on another journey, this time to change the future of mankind, all while trying to survive the ghosts of their past in Chicago and prevent the powerful Demon Popobowa from escaping the Dark Dimension to destroy the world as they know it.
