Countless young women around the world feel badly about their bodies and wish they were thinner. Millions of them develop eating disorders in their quest to lose "just 5 more pounds."

Lori Henry went through the roller coaster ride of bulimia from age 12 until she graduated from high school. This collection of poetry was written during that time and in the years of recovery that followed. Delve into the mindset of someone in the throws of bulimia who holds nothing back. Experience her ups and downs, triumphs and setbacks, all mirroring the experiences of those who struggle with this illness.

She is now a clinician specializing in eating disorders. She works as an occupational therapist and psychotherapist through her virtual private practice based in Toronto, Canada.

Praise for Silent Screams:

"Gutsy new writing."

- Gail Johnson, Health Editor of The Georgia Straight

"The poems provide valuable insights into the emotional journey one takes on the road to recovery."

- Christine A. Hartline, M.A., Director of the Eating Disorder Referral and Information Centre

"Every piece is written with genuine expression, threaded together with a golden needle. The poems eloquently describe the unrelenting injustice of an eating disorder and the glorious magnificence of recovery. If you have ever wondered what it's really like, prepare yourself for this profound, courageous journey of one who' s saved her own life."

- Shelley Jensen, eating disorders counsellor
