Blanche Lambert Lincoln is a seventh-generation Arkansan and in 1998 became the first woman elected to the Senate from Arkansas since Senator Hattie Caraway. She is also the first woman and Arkansan to serve as chair of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry.
