Royal Yachts - Paperback

This vintage book is a fascinating treatise on the historical relationship of English Royalty and the sport of yacht racing. Much like horse-racing, yachting is a sport of kings, with it being first introduced by Charles II at the Restoration.

As a distinguished curator and Keeper of Ships at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, Naish was uniquely positioned to document the magnificent and ceremonial history of the vessels that served the British monarchy.

Royal Yachts explores the history of English yacht racing and analyses its popularity, influence, and develop from its introduction to modern times. Full of interesting information and astute observations, this meticulously researched volume chronicles the evolution of the British Crown's personal fleet, starting from the Restoration era and continuing through to the commissioning of the famous HMY Britannia (the Royal Yacht active at the time of publication).

This book is an essential acquisition for maritime historians, naval enthusiasts, collectors of Royal memorabilia, and anyone fascinated by the intersection of British monarchy and naval tradition.
