Romans Commentary - Story of God Bible Commentary

This Romans commentary by Michael F. Bird offers a fresh approach to understanding Paul's most influential letter. Part of The Story of God Bible Commentary series, this volume interprets Romans within the Bible's grand narrative, revealing how God's salvation extends to both Israel and the nations.

Three-Section Framework

Each passage uses three integrated sections:

  • LISTEN to the Story: Complete NIV text with cross-references showing how each passage connects to the broader biblical narrative
  • EXPLAIN the Story: Scholarly examination of the text within its canonical and historical context
  • LIVE the Story: Practical application with contemporary illustrations for preaching, teaching, and personal study

Understanding Romans in Context

Romans has shaped Christian thought throughout history. This commentary demonstrates how the letter reveals God's redemptive plan and positions Jesus as the centerpiece of Israel's salvation history. The exposition guides readers to approach the Old Testament through a hermeneutical lens that identifies Christ's central role.

Designed for Multiple Audiences

The clear, accessible format serves pastors preparing sermons, students studying Scripture, Sunday school teachers developing lessons, and laypeople seeking deeper biblical understanding. The story-centric methodology helps readers connect ancient text to contemporary faith practice.
