This fully updated and revised, full-color edition of Rockhounding Utah reveals the grandeur of the state's exposed formations, its canyon walls etched with fossils, and the spires and arches of the Needles District in Canyonlands National Park.

Each description of the state's 71 sites includes:

- concise information on the material to be found there

- the tools to bring

-the best season to visit

- the vehicle to drive, or when a remote find suggests it's time to lace up the hiking boots.

Readers will glean new insights into the obsidian of the Black Rock sites, jasper at Hell's Backbone, petrified wood at Bullfrog Turnoff, and fossils of sea lillies along the Wasatch Range.

Gary Warren was born and raised in Clearfield, Utah. He and his wife eventually settled in Brigham City, Utah. They have four children, fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Gary has been a member of the Cache Rock and Gem Club, located in Logan, Utah, for ten years, eight of which he served as president. He now serves in the presidency of the Northwest Federation. He also teaches a community rockhounding class through Utah State University, Brigham City campus. As he is now retired, Gary has more time to pursue his passions, traveling and rockhounding throughout Utah.
