Public and Community Health Nursing: Expanding the Learning Experience is the printed text, rebuilt around what the pandemic exposed.

The argument running underneath it is that population health cannot sit at the edge of a nursing programme any more. Delivery, policy and community health get treated as one system rather than three chapters.

Who it's for

Nursing and public health courses first, and clinicians who trained before 2020 and want the post pandemic framing. It expects you to already know the clinical basics.

What's inside

Each theme is set up as something to argue with rather than memorise, and the case for leadership at every level of government runs underneath the whole book.

From the publisher

Public and Community Health Nursing: Expanding the Learning Experience explores critical issues in public and community health revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly its impact on the nursing profession and healthcare delivery globally.

The book evaluates the recent challenges faced by healthcare professionals and underscores the importance of integrating public and community health into healthcare practice and education. It emphasizes the need to recognize that public and community health are vital for the wellbeing of individuals, families, populations, communities, and global health.

The book provides a detailed discussion on various substantive topics like diversity, healthcare equity, vulnerable population health, communicable diseases, digital health, quality of care, and interprofessional collaboration. It also describes the nexus between healthcare delivery, public policy, and community health, while promoting leadership in all healthcare settings.

Public and Community Health Nursing lays out a framework for effective healthcare delivery that requires collaboration, coordination, and leadership at local, state, and federal levels, addressing crucial aspects for the contemporary healthcare professional's education and practice. It is ideal for courses and programs in nursing and public health.
