From time to time, we may all feel lost, alone, and terribly confused. For Rose, it started in childhood. As an overly sensitive child, unable to get a handle on where she was or why she was, the only way Rose could get to sleep was to pretend she wasn't here, pretend she was dead. Without bearings, Rose stumbled through childhood, adolescence, and then into young adulthood collecting guilt and shame as her accumulation of unmet needs and desires battled her conscience. 'Twas only later, much later, through a series of most unfortunate events including sexual abuse, the death of her dad, the near destruction of her home, meeting her birth family, her mom's newly diagnosed cancer, and the sudden catastrophic explosion of both herself and the life she had created for herself, that Rose was jarred into a need-a desperate need-for self-understanding. Once Rose started to mine her life's memories, mysteries, and miracles for meaning, she found both the strength and courage to begin anew. Back to school as a middle-aged mother of three, Rose pursued an understanding of both herself and the world. Through an awakening process, Rose was able to transform her life into one she could be proud of, a life that delivered more happiness than she could previously have imagined.

This is the story of a life transformed, a soul who in finally finding herself-home-was able to transcend the past and understand her life from a spiritual perspective.

Brenda Laface, believing she should have been kicked out of high school as a teen, returned to pursue more education as a middle-aged, single mother of three. At university, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and the Humanities. During her undergraduate work, Brenda had an essay published in The Trumpeter: Journal of Ecosophy, and another success was in a year when she received a Mahatma Gandhi Humanitarian Award. Not yet ready for the real world, Brenda then went on to complete a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. After working in the community and educational service sectors for a number of years, Brenda retired to a little house in Maple Ridge, B.C. where she was finally able to complete an autobiographical account of her life from a lost, alone, and terribly confused little girl to someone whose gratitude for the journey she has been on is unbounded. Although her adventures may read like a Greek tragedy, she feels like they were more of a Hero's Journey in Women's Studies. As such, she would like to welcome you as she travels back through time and offers a brief account of her life experiences and everything, she has learned from it all.
