George is an award-winning children's book writer, playwright, and screenwriter. Dixi Books published How Hope Became an Activist, which Readers' Favorite called "uplifting and optimistic." The book was also a Finalist for the Montaigne Medal, recognizing the most thought-provoking works.
His picture book Sophia's Secrets won the Pacific Northwest Writers' Association Children's Story competition (Clavis Books, 2023). Another title, Marisa and the Mountains (Simply Read Books, 2021), was a Finalist for the Chocolate Lily Book Award and the San Francisco Writers Conference Contest. The same recognition was given to Aldo Renaldo and the Renegade Alphabet (Histria Kids, 2023).
A second Aldo book, Aldo Renaldo and the Numbers That Just Don't Add Up, is forthcoming from Histria Kids Books. Additionally, two comic children's books are set to be released by Starfish Bay Publishers in Australia.
George is a creative writing professor at Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia. He strongly believes in the power of literature to foster empathy, and much of his work reflects his long-standing advocacy for social justice, for which he received the YMCA Peace Medal in 2019.
His eco-comedy play, Boomerangst, was produced by Chimera Theatre in 2023. He also writes environmental songs, including Climate Crisis and Salmon Run, performed with his band, Intensive Care--both available on all streaming platforms.
Outside of writing, George enjoys camping, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and swimming. In his youth, his family owned a haunted house in Hamilton, known as 350, which was sadly demolished. That's why he's particularly glad Pinky escaped a similar fate in Pinky's Moving Story!
