Russell Rebertus earned degrees in wildlife management and forestry, and he holds a PhD in soil science and geology from North Carolina State University. He has been a soil surveyor for the State of North Carolina, a professor of pedology and soil mineralogy, and for twenty years he ran his own environmental consulting business.
