Charlie's family situation is complicated: her dad is in prison and her mom can't take care of her, so she has to move in with her Aunt Bertha and Uncle Gus in Colby, a small town in North Carolina. This was definitely not part of her plans, and even worse... it might keep her mysterious wish from coming true!
That's why Charlie can't stop thinking about how to get back to Raleigh to be with her family. But everything changes when she meets Wishbone, a stray dog who wins her heart, and Howard, the only person who talks to her at her new school.
