Philosophy And War (1916) - Hardcover

Philosophy and War is a book written by Emile Boutroux in 1916. The book explores the relationship between philosophy and war, particularly in the context of World War I. Boutroux argues that war is not just a physical conflict, but also a clash of ideas and values. He examines the role of philosophy in shaping these ideas and values, and how it can be used to promote peace and understanding. The book also discusses the impact of war on philosophy itself, and how it has influenced the way philosophers think about ethics, politics, and human nature. Boutroux draws on a wide range of philosophical traditions, including ancient Greek philosophy, Kantianism, and existentialism, to provide a nuanced and thought-provoking analysis of the relationship between philosophy and war. Overall, Philosophy and War is a timely and insightful meditation on the enduring human struggle for peace and the role of philosophy in this struggle. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
