Evidence regarding their origins, including recent studies of DNA, is considered. The likely pattern of routes through the Pacific is interpreted against the results of a computer simulation of human survival at sea. Modern health problems are discussed in relation to the evolutionary requirements of the past, of which they may be a result. A fascinating book, though slightly technical.
