She is a union officer for the American Federation of Musicians.She got her love of colors and stars from her scientist father, a Stanford University professor, and her love of music and advocacy from her mother.After graduating with a bachelor's degree in music performance from the University of Southern California, she spent eight years playing her horn in Mexico City.Bethany took up painting after being diagnosed with cancer.
