Our Journey to Tomorrow explores how humanity has evolved to its current state of existence. How we decide to evolve from here will determine how long we have before we become extinct. The universe has two fundamental laws that everything in it is subject to. One, that nothing last forever and two, everything in it has a purpose. From the earliest days of human existence, survival was our primary concern. Our ancestors struggled to find food, shelter, and safety. Over time, however, human societies became more complex, and our desires expanded far beyond survival. We began pursuing status, comfort, wealth, influence, recognition, and power. Out of these desires emerged what I have called the Me-a worldview in which personal interests become the highest priority. The Me is not limited to individuals. It can infect families, communities, corporations, governments, and entire nations. It encourages Us to treat resources as unlimited, consequences as someone else's problem, and future generations as distant abstractions. Under its influence immediate gratification often outweighs long-term responsibility. In the absence of humankind failure to collectively agree on its purpose in life, we have reached the point of diminishing returns that will leave Us far short in fulfilling our destiny. Our entire lives have been dedicated to finding the most important thing that can bring Us happiness. But true happiness is not found it the material world but from within each and every one of Us.
