Mexico City, May 30, 1984. Manuel Buendía Téllez is murdered outside his office in the Juárez neighborhood.
The attack, swift and precise, silences one of the most influential voices in journalism. Although the investigation into his murder is riddled with inconsistencies and multiple theories about its motive, the truth is far darker. As Buendía goes about his day as usual--obsessively writing his column "Red Privada", meeting with public officials, and pursuing investigations that unsettle powerful political and economic interests--a parallel operation unfolds. Known as "Operación Noticia," it is a clandestine scheme carried out by state security forces who surveil him and orchestrate his assassination. Every move the journalist makes --his schedules, routes, meetings, and habits-- is observed and recorded, while the solar eclipse of that May day looms as a dark stain cast over the nation.

Fritz Glockner es un destacado historiador, escritor y periodista mexicano. Finalista del X Premio Rodolfo Walsh en 1997 por Veinte de cobre y becario del FONCA en 2010, se ha desempeñado como profesor en la Universidad Iberoamericana, la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, Dartmouth College y en la maestría de Escritura Creativa en Iowa.
En 1994 fue uno de los principales encargados de prensa de la campaña presidencial de Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas. Actualmente es director de la red de librerías Educal. Es autor de Memoria roja (crónica histórica de carácter periodístico), Los años heridos (crónica política histórica) y Cementerio de papel (novela negra).
Fritz Glockner is a prominent Mexican historian, writer, and journalist. A finalist for the 10th Rodolfo Walsh Award in 1997 for Veinte de cobre and a FONCA fellow in 2010, he has taught at Universidad Iberoamericana, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, Dartmouth College, and in the Creative Writing MFA program in Iowa.
In 1994, he was one of the main press coordinators for the presidential campaign of Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas. He currently serves as director of the Educal bookstore network. He is the author of Memoria roja (historical chronicle with a journalistic approach), Los años heridos (historical political chronicle), and Cementerio de papel (noir novel).
