Boyle, Dixie: - Award-winning author Dixie Boyle has worked as a fire lookout for the past thirty-seven fire seasons. She began her career as a fire spotter in New Mexico's Gila and Cibola National Forests and went on to work for the Oregon State Forestry and in the Black Hills of Wyoming and South Dakota. For the past eighteen fire seasons she has served as the primary lookout on Capilla Peak Lookout in New Mexico's Manzano Mountains.
