Once, there stood a children's home of great reputation and stature. It was Home to thousands of children for nearly a century. It offered security, shelter, food, learning, health care, nurturing, and compassion along with cruelty, hatred and death. It's name was Fairmount.
Henry and Belle Gates were two of hundreds of children living in the Home under the rule of Headmaster Rumsted. His rules hung in the hall and on their minds with heavy consequences. Their story is not dissimilar to many others of their era, yet their actions may have been.
What follows may shock, delight or horrify, yet certainly entertain.
