This collection is an early work of the author. It was penned mostly in Brooklyn, NYC after a romantic break-up in the early 90s. Lo has also published several other chapbooks and a prose-poem memoir. This chapbook was influenced by the strain to survive in New York City and gain independence as an artist. The poems were influenced by Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath and Stevie Smith, all very different but important female artists. The poems range in topic from haunting toys, bad therapy, the edge of romance, hangovers, day gigs in offices, desire and longing. They are meant to capture an episode in the poet's life, a place and a time.
