Night and Day is a novel written by Virginia Woolf, first published in 1919. The novel follows the lives of two young women, Katharine Hilbery and Mary Datchet, and their relationships with the men in their lives. Katharine is a wealthy and privileged woman who is engaged to the ambitious and intellectual Ralph Denham, while Mary is a working-class suffragette who is in love with the idealistic and romantic Cyril Alardyce. The novel explores themes of love, marriage, class, and gender roles, as well as the struggle between tradition and modernity. Woolf's writing style is characterized by her use of stream-of-consciousness narration, which allows the reader to experience the characters' thoughts and emotions in a vivid and intimate way. Night and Day is considered one of Woolf's more traditional novels, but still showcases her unique style and perspective on society and relationships.London, in the first days of spring, has buds that open and flowers that suddenly shake their petals--white, purple, or crimson--in competition with the display in the garden beds, although these city flowers are merely so many doors flung wide in Bond Street and the neighborhood, inviting you to look at a picture, or hear a symphony, or merely crowd and crush yourself among all sorts of vocal, excitable, brightly colored human beings. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
