Description
A little boys Dad just lost his leg in a motorcycle accident. Before the accident, they rode motocross together all the time. Things have really, really changed Find out how it all happened and how this brave young boy and his Dad adjust to life as an amputee Dad and Son. A NOTE TO PARENTS: Amputation is horrific, but the wonder of it all, is that children adapt extremely well. They are more resilient and accepting than most adults. All they need is a structured and loving support system. They will also benefit tremendously by meeting others who have experienced similar tragedies. Please talk to your child/children and ask them questions. Allow them to ask you questions as well. Make sure to not forget the very young children, such as toddlers. Encourage them to continue to hug Mom or Dad (the amputee). Children are naturally curious. Show them photos of others with limb loss-interacting with their children. Bring them to the Doctors/Prosthetists office with you. Most of all, spend quality time with them. This touching story is absolutely perfect for a child of a parent amputee. It's bright, beautiful illustrations by Aaron Cunanan are superb. Any Hero Mom or Dad would love to read this heartwarming story aloud.
